Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 April 2026

1. What data we collect

We collect only what's needed to run your vault: the documents you upload (files and any text we extract from them), your email address, a display name, and basic usage logs (login times, document counts, error reports). We do not use trackers, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics.

2. How we store your data

All documents are encrypted at rest with AES-256 and stored on servers physically located in India. Only authenticated requests carrying your session token can read your files — our database access rules (Row Level Security) make it technically impossible for one user to read another user's documents.

3. How AI processes your documents

When you ask a question, DocVault sends only the relevant extracted text from the matching document to generate your answer. The original file never leaves our servers. We use enterprise-grade AI APIs whose providers contractually agree not to retain or train on your data. Processing is on-demand only — nothing is analysed in the background.

4. Who can see your data

Only you. DocVault employees do not have access to your documents. We do not share, sell, or rent your data to anyone, ever. Government or law-enforcement requests will be evaluated against Indian law and challenged where appropriate.

5. Data retention

We keep your documents for as long as your account is active. Once you delete a document it is removed from our database immediately and purged from backup storage within 30 days.

6. How to delete your data

You can permanently delete every document and your account at any time from the Delete My Data page. Deletion is irreversible.

7. DPDP Act 2023 compliance

DocVault complies with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data, and to nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf. To file a grievance, email support@docvault.in.

8. Contact

For data requests or privacy questions, write to support@docvault.in. We respond within 7 working days.
